I find out I have to “renew” a library card in person? Every two years?? I’ve lived in 8 different states and have NEVER had to “renew” a library card! Last state Hawai’i-one million ppl in Honolulu-NO renewal in 25 years!
We have dealt with some inadequate libraries before, this one is the worst. Almost nothing we need for homeschool assignments is there! For such a nice building, it has the smallest selection of non-fiction books I have ever seen. We have to buy our own books because our tax dollars are going to a building instead of books.
STUPID place to build a library. Stupidity to shut down for three days. This is a state library-NOT a church. Stay open for people!
Yeah for Easter weekend they decide to close both Friday and Saturday! (of course closed on Sundays!) Thanks for telling us! CHANGE YOUR SIGN!
And WHY does a card need to be renewed every two years in person? Ever heard of computers???
But of course I can’t renew my card online--which means I can’t put a hold on a book from another library! Absolutely ridiculous--THEN--I can’t get out! No stop light--nothing. Cars backed up in Northbound lane back two miles. I CAN’T GET OUT! Took me 45 minutes until one of these locals let me out to make a left hand turn--which is dangerous as you can’t see any cars coming with the LONG LINE OF CARS!
I visited the new library for the first time today and the library itself looks great. However, this was overshadowed by the unfriendliness of the staff. As a long-time cardholder of the West GA Regional Library System, I have always been very pleased when talking to staff. The Buchanan-Haralson Public Library is a personal favorite because staff members have always been very welcoming, helpful, and seem to have a real passion for their work. I saw none of that today, or the charm that I have come to expect from libraries in general. In comparison, the Villa Rica Public Library felt cold and unwelcoming. Although I will not likely return in the near future, I hope this will improve as time goes on.
My whole family loves the new library. Our ages are 2 girl, 12 boy, 15 boy, 17 , 32 and 54 female. There are areas for everyone to read, work, play or just relax. Even though it's much bigger, it still feels just as cozy. It is very quiet. The children's area, however, can be pretty noisy as expected(especially when my daughter is there). I'm giving a 4 star overall rating because on two different occasions, the same lady was rude to my mother while simply checking out. You can still consider us frequent visitors. Thanks to Villa Rica Library! :)
I also noticed another lady taking care of another couple. She was also very nice. Very good experience. Looking forward to my visits.
Recently moved to Villa Rica from Tn. Went to library today to secure a card. The sweet lady that took care of me could not have been nicer.
So Friday I drive up the Dallas Hwy to get to the new library. One two lane road--backed up for miles. I got out of my car and asked why? Guy said “It’s a very busy road..ALWAYS this busy.” So I wait and see the new library sign flashing upcoming events. HOURS! Friday: Open until 5:30 pm. So I wait in traffic, FINALLY drive in, park..it’s closed! What?
